OMO advert: blog tasks

 1. The advert was produced in the 1950's.

 2. In the 1950's women were presented as house wives and to stay in the house and do daily domestic chores, This product affects society as it is targeted for women and is meant for women. In the 1950's it was a patriarchal society and women were often victims and in those times it was normal for women to be house wives. Overtime society has changed as women started taking actions for equal rights and in modern society some may argue that women still dont have as much rights as men , however in mosts opinion, it has.

3. The heading message promotes the product due to background information , getting the audience intrigued.

4. The mise-en-scene in the advert for costume is that the woman is wearing a green dress also she is hanging clothes with a distressing smile suggesting woman in society are emotional and love to do chores. Another mise-en-scene is the make-up that suggests for a woman to be beautiful they need make-up also the props which are clothes on a line suggesting that woman are supposed to household tasks.

5. The product is the added to the bottom right so they can be spotted in supermarkets and is used as extra advertisement.

6. The connotations of the 3 colours is the British flag patriotism after ww2.

7. The anchorage uses persuasive text by multiple repetition  by bright and white.

 8. The woman in the advert is looking at the audience and uses direct mode of address to engage women. This is combined with her happy expression to position OMO as a product you need. The 50s housewife is represented as someone who spends her time happily cleaning.

 9.The preferred reading for this advert is that women are supposed to do all the housework happily and that women are owned by their husbands.

10. A modern audience may react unfavourably due to the targeted audience and how it may offend them
