Denotation and Connotation!

  Denotation: There is some text with emotional language to encourage people to donate to this certain charity . The background is appears to be a sky. Connotation: The advert builds on the slogan for West/East Africa 'dig toilets not graves'. The connotation of the sad boy breaks down the fact this boy in in a negative,emotional state of mind and is desperate for attention to his need. This adds negative and sad brand values and it makes you feel sorry for them and you would want to help them. Analysis: The advert helps the audience help this charity and help understand what is going on out there as the colours reflect on sad and sorrowful child in the picture. in addition,  the text 'not graves' has a deeper meaning of the sad and helpless boy.

Denotation: There is some text that displays eggs with a certain  word "tasty" underlined deliberately to show its flavours.  Connotation: The advert builds on the slogan for eggs  'happy hens lay tasty eggs'  The connotation of tasty suggests that these eggs having extreme flavour and will persuade the audience to purchase the eggs. There is also a person cooking the egg , preparing to gobble it. Analysis: The advert helps the audience understand the product as the verbal code helps them understand the actual eggs themselves.  In addition, the text across the bottom of the advert  uses enthusiastic words to connect with the audience and suggests the brand is joyful of their product. This adds to the positive vibes, happy brand values    that are suggested by the construction of the advert.
