Denotation and Connotation!

 


Denotation:

There is some text with emotional language to encourage people to donate to this certain charity . The background is appears to be a sky.

Connotation:

The advert builds on the slogan for West/East Africa 'dig toilets not graves'. The connotation of the sad boy breaks down the fact this boy in in a negative,emotional state of mind and is desperate for attention to his need. This adds negative and sad brand values and it makes you feel sorry for them and you would want to help them.

Analysis:

The advert helps the audience help this charity and help understand what is going on out there as the colours reflect on sad and sorrowful child in the picture. in addition,  the text 'not graves' has a deeper meaning of the sad and helpless boy.
