Preliminary exercise feedback and learner response

 1. WWW: Your editing skills are really very good here – lots to credit. Excellent continuity editing, clear narrative communicated and a perfect product shot at the end of the advert. Both music tracks work really well too – excellent selection and introduced at the right time. The only issue is that the clips are the example videos we filmed in class so we don’t have any of your own original video which is a crucial part of the process. This is something to consider when choosing how to proceed with your coursework project.

EBI: In terms of the editing, the main feedback from this project is the audio tracks. The music is great but you still have the audio tracks from the video which means you can hear the direction and instructions to actors. It’s a great lesson for future editing projects as you need to edit with headphones on or audio up and check your work carefully before exporting. In this case, you needed to either drag the video file only on to the timeline or alternatively drop the volume from the video clips down to zero so we can’t hear the instructions to actors. You also don’t have any voiceover or text on screen at the end of the advert which is a key convention of TV advertising.

LR: As your learner response, write what you are planning to make for your real coursework. Will you choose to make the 2 video adverts or 3 print adverts? Explain your decision.

3. I learned that I should use audio tracks. I will use audio tracks next time. Use good music. Drag the file.
