 1. Instagram was a threat to facebook .  2.  Saves Time, reduces cost, better products, increased expertise, Improves marketability , creates economies of scale. 3. Increases Market Share, reducing competition , more profit, wider audience. 4. smaller companies owned by bigger companies. 5. Disney , Facebook, Sony 6. ABC, ESPN, Marvel , Lucas film , 21 century fox, holly wood records. Steam boat ventures, A&E Networks, Hulu, Vice. 7. Fox was a competitor for Disney in the film industry. Disney can expand its self, increase markets , raise market competitiveness at the same time through the horizontal merger with fox.

Audience theory: key notes and terminology

Passive: This is the view that audiences   passively  take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone. Active: This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences  interact  with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume.   Hypodermic Needle Theory This is the suggestion that audiences are always  passive  and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members.  INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE:  The Times newspaper  > Why: It tells audiences important information about politics, the world and more. I done better in question 3 because I feel like its because i wrote 3 paragraphs making it have more detail for the question. 4. I scored lower in question 5 and 6 because I didn't add much detail and depth which lost me marks. 5. In the perfume advert featuring Beyonce , the typography lets us know the name of the product. Red connotates blood, hatred , anger and aggression. This may provide the fact that the product will give you these connotations. Reception Theory:

1. The preferred reading of a media text is the message or ideology / belief the producers want the audience to believe. 2. The  oppositional reading of a media text is when the consumer takes away an opposite message or belief different to what the producers intended. 3. T he Harry Brown trailer positions the audiences to respond to the teenage characters as violent and dishonest because of it is how they were portrayed in south London. 4. Young people may reject this reading because not all children in south London are into gang violence and selling drugs. Therefore, some may agree and disagree due to their preferred or counter reading. 5.  First, the preferred reading of the McDonald's advert would be the intended message by the advertisers. They probably want to promote their food as delicious, affordable, and a great option for quick meals. They might also aim to create a positive and enjoyable experience for customers.
